Detailed description of Three Rivers Golf Course

Three Rivers Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Kelso, Washington.

Three Rivers Golf Course first opened for play in 1982. The course was designed by Robert Muir Graves.

Three Rivers Golf Course was built upon the thousands of tons of ash, dust, and mud that filled and was scooped out of the ajacent Cowlitz River after the eruption of Mount St Helens. Because of its porous volcanic underlayment, Three Rivers is one of the Northwest's driest winter courses.

This medium-length layout features 4 sets of teeboxes for the enjoyment of golfers of all skill levels. The Blue tees of this par 72 course play to 6,648 yards for a course rating is 71.2 and a slope rating of 119. The White tees measure 6,087 yards, Gold tees are set at 5,736 yards and the Red tees play to 5,388 yards.

Three Rivers is owned and operated by the Kelso\Longview Elks.

This Robert Muir Graves layout is a welcome surprise in this lazy little town in Southwest Washington. It has a great layout with excellent greens. Beautiful vistas and of course river views. Water comes into play on a few holes and there are lots of undulation in all the greens. The only thing that is needed is an updated clubhouse and grill, but for the price it is an excellent bargin.

I enjoy playing this course. We play in the winter months on Sundays because it is the dryest course in the area.

Three Rivers Golf course was built after the 1980 Mount ST. Hellens eruption. The volcanic ash was used as filler making this the very best playable golf course in the Northwest during the winter months. Dry within 10 minutes after a torrential downpour. Coupled with the price it is by far the very best golfing experience in the whole Pacific Northwest from November through March due to playability. No sloshing around in the fairways.
